HOT CROSS BUNS recipe: Ingredients
3/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C) 3 tablespoons butter 1 tablespoon instant powdered milk 1/4 cup white sugar 3/8 teaspoon salt 1 egg 1 egg white 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon active dry yeast 3/4 cup dried currants 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 egg yolk 2 tablespoons water 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 teaspoons milk Directions Put warm water, butter, skim milk powder, 1/4 cup sugar, salt, egg, egg white, flour, and yeast in bread maker and start on dough program. When 5 minutes of kneading are left, add currants and cinnamon. Leave in machine till double. Punch down on floured surface, cover, and let rest 10 minutes. Shape into 12 balls and place in a greased 9 x 12 inch pan. Cover and let rise in a warm place till double, about 35-40 minutes. Mix egg yolk and 2 tablespoons water. Brush on balls. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 20 minutes. Remove from pan immediately and cool on wire rack. To make crosses: mix together confectioners' sugar, vanilla, and milk. Brush an X on each cooled bun.

Ingredientes:
1 kg de harina 45 g de levadura de cerveza
1 cucharada de azúcar molida
leche tibia
150 g de manteca
2 huevos
1 cucharadita de sal fina
pasas sin semilla
1 yema
Instrucciones:
Mezclar en un recipiente la levadura con el azúcar y agregar leche tibia, poco a poco, hasta disolver la levadura. Tamizar la harina, en un bol grande y hacer un hueco en el centro y ahí volcar la mezcla de la levadura e integrar los ingredientes hasta que se forme una masa tierna. Cubrir con un trapo de cocina y dejar reposar en lugar templado hasta que aumente el doble de su volumen. Colocar sobre la mesa, agregar la manteca blanda, los huevos, un poco más de leche tibia y las pasas de uva. Trabajar la masa hasta alisarla, colocarla en un bol y dejarla leudar hasta que aumente el doble de su volumen de nuevo. Tomar porciones y dar forma de bollitos. Pintar con la yema y decorar con 2 tiras de masa cruzadas. Distribuir en una placa engrasada, dejar descansar durante 15 minutos y llevar a horno moderado hasta dorar.

For my 8th birthday I wanted some friends to stay the night and Mum +Dad agreed. It was really good fun! Early evening we all (7) went to see the animals (snakes, doggies, lizards, tortoises, carolina birds...) and when it got dark we got our torches and went outside to play hide and seek. Then we were called in to wash and have supper: pizzas, salad and fruit. We went to bed -girls in one bedroom, boys in mine - and we talked and told games until 12.00 pm when Daddy turned off the lights and said that it was time to sleep. In the morning, after breakfast, washing faces + getting dressed, Mum put some facial make-up on our faces, then she made some playdough and we all played with it. Late morning my friends' parents came to collect their kids. It was over but I (Rowan) felt happy.
