Telling the time - Aprendiendo las Horas

We have been learning how to tell the time for a while with Mami and we thought it would be nice to make another lapbook, so we did. Apart from learning about ways of telling the time: sundials, hourglasses, water clocks... We made a game, built a sundial and did lots of different activities related to telling the time.

Hemos estado aprendiendo las horas desde hace un tiempo y pensamos que sería bueno hacer un ProyectoLibro sobre ello, así que lo hemos hecho. Aparte de aprender diferentes maneras de saber las horas: relojes solares, de arena, de agua... Hemos hecho un juego, construimos un reloj de sol y montones de diferentes actividades relacionadas con las horas.

Magically inflated balloon - Globo inflado por arte de magia.

Fantastic experiment from our ORCA friends. We inflated a balloon using vinegar inside a bottle + sodium bicarbonate inside a balloon attached and secured to the mouth of the bottle. Carefully poured the powder into the liquid and Voilà! watch the magic work.

Fantastico experimento de nuestros amigos de ORCA. Inflamos un globo usando vinagre en una botella + bicarbonato dentro de un globo colocado y asegurado al cuello de la botella. Cuidadosamente dejamos caer el polvo en el líquido y Voilà! vemos la magia actuar.

El Fossar de les Moreres + Santa Maria del Mar - Barcelona 'el Born'

We went for a walk in the Gothic Quarter, visited Sta. Maria del Mar and El Fossar de les Moreres, where Mami told us a bit of our city's past. The Fossar is a Barcelonan memorial built in 1988 to commemorate Catalan independence. The Succession War meant the confrontation between 2 European Dynasties fighting for the Spanish Crown: The Archiduque Carlos de Austria and Philip d'Anjou, later known as Felipe V. The Borbons won and catalonia having given its support to the other contendant, suffered the consequences. In 1714, the Borbonic Army sieged the city, plundered and destroyed the city, in particular the 'Born' quarter. Witness to all this is the Fossar, that keeps the memories and pays homage to the fallen Catalans on September 11th. This unusual square holds a memorial to the fallen Catalans of that war, with the torch of the eternal flame and the heroic poem by Frederic Soler "Pitarra".

Fuimos de paseo por el Barri Gòtic, visitamos Sta. Mª del Mar y el Fossar de les Moreres, donde Mami nos explicó un poquito del pasado de nuestra ciudad. El Fossar es un memorial construido en 1988 para conmemorar la independencia catalana. La guerra de Sucesión significó el enfrentamiento entre dos dinastías europeas por la corona española: el archiduque Carlos de Austria y Felipe de Anjou, luego conocido como Felipe V. Ganó el Borbón y Catalunya, que había apostado por el otro contendiente, pagó las consecuencias. En 1714, el ejército borbónico saqueó la ciudad y destrozó el barrio del Born. De todo es testigo el Fossar de les Moreres, que guarda los recuerdos y homenajea a los caidos el fatídico día del 11 de septiembre. Visitar el Fossar de les Moreres es recordar la historia de Catalunya y revivir uno de los episodios más trágicos de la nación catalana. Además, justo al lado se puede admirar la catedral de Santa Maria del Mar.

Football match - Partido de fútbol

Two weeks ago Rowan's football team won their first match. It was fantastic!!! We loved it and they did too. They are 5th now in the schools league.

Hace dos semanas el equipo de fútbol de Rowan ganó su primer partido. Fue fantástico! Nos emocionó y a ellos también. Ahora son quintos el la liguilla de colegios.
